Funny how those two words alone triggered a bunch of Dinosaur Train flashbacks.

So I played a lot of Dinosaur Train when I was working on streaming media players, but I never understood anything about the premise or the plot. It just seemed that they mashed together two things that kids might like. But now there’s time travel in it? That’s just lazy writing.

You need to get past the premise that the dinosaurs are intelligent and wholesome. They are taking a magic time-travelling train throughout the mesozoic era. If you can buy into that, the show is actually very educational.

The train time-travels, because the show discusses different dinosaur speceies over 180 million years. They travel to a new stop, meet the locals and have adventures with new dinosaur species. Then at the end of the episode, they have a real palentologist explain what science knows about the species they met that day.

Ignoring the first two spikes, this chart accurately details my experience:

(I never got into dinosaurs that much as a kid, but my own children sure did. I had about 4 years of non-stop dinosaur facts)

They must have sneaked those in since I was there last, admittedly it has been a few months (at least) since I was down that way.

Ah, that would explain that. I was wondering what happened to the concrete…
