I’m unable to post with my .world account, because it throws a 401 error. I’m able to vote on posts and comments just fine.

It happens with both Connect and Jerboa. I’ve tried logging out and back in with Jerboa, but it doesn’t help.

This happened about a week ago too; I waited a few days and I was eventually able to post again.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Hi,

It could be that there was a short term issue on the backend, did you select a language? Do you use a vpn?

      Thanks for the feedback!

I did select a language, and I do use a VPN.

I was not aware that a VPN would interfere with lemmy.world, as it works fine with other instances.

Is there a way to use a VPN with this instance? I live in a place where the local government has taken an interest in people’s web traffic, so I don’t want to go without it.

People were using VPN’s and anonymous/temp email accounts to spam CSAM onto a number of communities.

The admins had to take measures both to protect their users (from having to see that material) and themselves (legally as how Lemmy works the images are stored on their servers in Germany).

I refuse to use an account on .world; this instance seems far too interested in deanonymizing users. Unable to use proton mail addresses or other temporary email to create accounts, VPN restrictions…what is the reason for this, .world admins?

People were using everything you are complaining about to spam CSAM onto a number of communities.

The admins had to take measures both to protect their users (from having to see that material) and themselves (legally as how Lemmy works the images are stored on their servers in Germany).
