Heading to Brisbane to enjoy some warmer weather. What are fun things to do, especially with a little one year old?

How fun! I’ve got a 5 and 1 year old and we hit up these places a lot (all free):

    • Mt cootha botanic gardens (has a cafe, playground, kid friendly)
    • Brisbane libraries often have activities going for kids and some of them have wonderful kid friendly sections (state library has a great kids section)
    • Roma street parklands is a great place to have a picnic and enjoy some greenspace (they often host events also)
    • if you’re heading out west, Rocks Riverside Park has a great water play setup for little ones and playground styles for all ages
    • Southbank is also great, lots of food and play options, can be quite busy at peak times

Depending on where you’re headed in Brisbane exactly, there’s some wonderful nature play spots too.

You haven’t specified whereabouts you’re staying but generally the library activities are amazing and free, plus just being outside is fun here! Walking along the foreshore at Wynnum or Sandgate, playing in the big playgrounds like Kidspace (Chermobyl), Hidden World (Fitzgibbon) or Pine Rivers (sort of Bald Hills) are amazing. Nature walks in areas like Mt. Coot-tha, Bunyaville or Tinchi Tamba (sort of Bracken Ridge) are all great too, as you can access nature within a 1-year-old’s range.
