Roiland isn’t just the voices though. Replacing voices with copycats has never been the issue. Roilands writing and ideas is what makes the show. I’m not confident in the upcoming seasons at all. They’re off to a terrible start with the new voice actor imo, terrible choice.

After reading up on Roiland and his past ventures. I’d be hesitant to say it was his writing that made the show. I’ll have to catch up on R&M to really know. But I really don’t feel like that dude is packing literary nukes in his pocket. Harmon was the one originally approached for R&M, Roiland has like Acceptable.tv as one of his only writing gigs besides R&M. I think the bulk of the talent came from elsewhere he is mostly a voice actor.

Harmon is the much better writer. Rowlands writing has been less involved for years now. The worst episodes are Roilands input.

With Harmon as sole writer the show is bound to hit a stride.

While true, he still clearly has a lot of input and gives direction and guidance on it. The studio he started (Squanch Games) and made the game “High on Life” with has virtually the exact same humour and writing style etc as Rick and Morty. Same as “Trover saves the universe”. His other show “Solar Opposites” is again almost the exact same humour and writing style. I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that the quality of the show has gone down pretty noticeably the last few seasons.
