Do you strictly interpret ‘Brisbane’ as the BCC area, or will you tell people you live ‘in Brisbane’ when you’re just shy shy of Caloundra, Ipswich, or Toowoomba? I will always call Redcliffe, ‘Brisbane’, even though it was established long before Brisbane, but exclude Ipswich, but I don’t have any good reason for either.

Journos use ‘near Brisbane’ for up to 200km from King George Square, and ‘events in Brisbane’ frequently have listings for the Gold Coast.

Is Brisbane just a state of mind? :)

Ha, and this is why people from FNQ dislike you and SE QLD.

They function under our state system, they have the same state politicans as us, we vote for the same people at the same election, we pool our tax money together and it is distributed across the whole state.

That’s why we include them. Don’t you care what someone from FNQ is doing to the Great Barrier Reef? Surely you have some feelings about it as one example?

Are you suggesting that people from Sydney or Melbourne don’t care about what someone from FNQ is doing to the GBR?

Realistically I have more in common with a resident of Sydney than Cairns.

No, of course not, but we use the same state political system with the same funding. You are forced to have something in common.
