Not sure if it’s the first video game I played, but the first one I fell in love with as a kid was Commander Keen. I wish Bethesda (or Microsoft I guess now) would do something worthwhile with the licence.
Most of the games I played as a kid were Apogee side-scrolling platformers. I remember I absolutely loved Monster Bash, but it always used to crash our computer so I was forbidden from playing it.
