    This is a quokka, found in south west Australia. There is a small island off the coast that’s full of them, Rottnest island.

      …I was right! My husband saw the preview image and asked if it was a Gambian pouched rat and I said no, I think it’s a quokka. I feel so validated.

      Apparently Rottnest has few to zero predators, so the quokkas can be completely chill when it comes to being around humans.
