    That’s up to you to decide I guess, but it means that you can buy an upcoming plus series synology nas and put all fresh new Iron Wolf/WD Red/etc drives in it without issue.

    I don’t really think it’s a sign that they’re going to completely lock them down any time soon as they know that would completely destroy their non-corporate side of the business.

    I’ve contemplated making my own NAS, but the synology hardware and software is just unbeatable for the price and effort imo.

      Ultimately then we disagree on how far clueless execs will go to chase that endless growth. But we can agree to disagree.
