After finding out about a month ago that the garden spot I was planting in down at my in-laws’ place was essentially clay hardpan I finally decide to look at what’s in the backyard at the new place and this is what I find. It’s a true loam.
Not a sandy loam, not a clay loam, just pure loam. It’s the perfect garden soil just like it is and it seems to keep going for as deep as I dig. It’s really a gift. I’ve got a lot of sod to remove unfortunately but that can be done.
