The Ute Mountain Ute Tribe will construct one of the largest solar farms in the U.S.::Construction on the Sun Bear Solar Farm is set to start later in 2024 and will need more than 500 laborers and electricians.
I find it fascinating that this North American First Nations tribe chose to name themselves after the Australian derivative ‘Ute’ (for ‘utility vehicle’) which is basically is the same as a pick-up truck.
I mean I guess it’s better than calling yourselves ‘people mover’ or ‘station wagon’.
This particular tribe actually visited Australia thousands of years ago and borrowed a ute, they liked it so much they named themselves after it
I’m pretty sure that’s a linguistic coincidence, they’re a tribe that’s been around for a long time. ☝️🤓
This post left me very confused for a good 30 seconds, why would a bunch of car enthusiasts install solar panels? … Oh
Yes, because a Native American nation couldn’t possibly have existed before the Australian version of pick-up trucks. If it’s meant to be a joke, didn’t quite land.
I’m not sure if it’s a joke either unless they had sport utility vehicles in… 1897.
Here’s one from 1800!

XD good one
No no, trucks, not land.
Oh, it landed, just like Taylor Swift arriving at home
I’m all for this. There is basically nothing out there. When people think of the American desert, that’s it.
This is the way.
