Every culture has such individuals, white people merely raised it to an art form…

Pure racism. Keep it classy, Lemmy.

Stuff like this is why I won’t even tell people I use the fediverse, let alone recommend it.

I’m a white person and I chuckled. It’s just a joke that you can hide if you don’t enjoy it.

It’s still a racist joke, and saying “you can hide it” is even worse.

I am very confused at how people on the “whitepeopletwitter” instance are angry about a joke at a white person’s expense?

Ah apologies, guess the racism is 100% warranted and okay then, because the community is made to ridicule and be racist.

You do realize that based on a societal level, this joke is punching UP and not “down”, which is why it’s completely okay to poke fun at white people.

Unless you’re not in the United States and white people in your country don’t hold the majority of powerful positions, then I guess maybe I can see why you’d be upset?

Have you ever thought to yourself “maybe I shouldn’t be defending blatant racism?”

Ya got me. I’m defending blanket “racism”.

Clearly you and Maalus do not have the cognitive abilities to understand why a “racist” joke against a white person is different than a racist “joke” against a POC, and I’ve already highlighted the nuance between the two.

Or you do understand the difference and you want to victimize yourself anyhow.

Either way, you do you, I’m not engaging anymore. Have a good day.

It’s not “a white person”, it’s a blanket jab against all white people.

As a white person, I’m fine with jokes at my expense, so long as they are actually funny, and not delivered maliciously. This struck true, and doesn’t seem to be malicious.

I would love a world where “racist” jokes are a non-issue for everyone. Unfortunately there are enough racists who hide behind “it’s just a joke”. Till then, I will continue to fight for equality.
