What is the experience of Suitsupply from people in here?

I’m attracted by the idea of being able to find clothes, especially pants, in a reoccurring model/style/size that fits me and being able to make changes in fabric and details to change things up.

Are they any good to deal with?

I’ve been a few times and own a few pieces.

You’ll probably get a good value suit there in terms of quality and fabric, the real questions are cut and service.

The people working there are not tailors. They are salespeople. Their MTM is not bespoke, it’s MTM. The salespeople might or might not be experienced in measuring. The ones who are experienced are in the mindset that suits should fit very slim (no, they shouldn’t). The factory is in the habit of cutting suits very slim.

The salespeople cannot all recognize the nuanced problems with an ill-fitting suit, and they really aren’t paid to recognize them or to care.

The suits themselves do mostly fit very slim. The Roma jacket and Duca trousers are “relaxed,” which… I’ve been meaning to visit a store and really try them on, but having seen some Romas today… they’re not really relaxed so much as they are not that slim. If you don’t know how to recognize a good cut, I’d recommend following Derek Guy on Twitter until you do.

Most of their other clothing is at least kinda overpriced. So is their footwear—buy your footwear from a shoemaker, not a suitmaker or fashion brand. MTM shirts are okay. Outerwear is okay, some of it is actually kinda cool. Knitwear… isn’t bad, just a little overpriced.

People have asked me for advice, and I’ve sent them to suitsupplies… the one in Chicago did a friend of mine dirty, gave him a suit that really wasn’t close and wouldn’t let him try on a larger size. They pushed him to buy something truly terrible and rushed him out the door.
