Sadly, a CPAP generally does not alleviate - and might even aggravate - symptoms from a cold, the flu, etc. There are some exceptions, but most recommendations I’ve read suggest temporarily desisting use of the CPAP when ill.
I think they meant having a sore throat in the morning is usually from snoring and breathing through your mouth while sleeping and not from a cold or flu.
