    >Giant nightmare fish invades area

    >At first, fishermen are scared

    >Realise it tastes good and its large size makes it commercially attractive

    >Now there’s disagreements over who gets to catch the giant nightmare fish

What next, Cthulhu spawn invade the ocean only to be mass caught and eaten like calamari?

Amazing fish. Jeremy Wade / River monsters did an episode about the Arapaima. Primary danger to humans is that it tends to launch out of the water when threatened. It’s hard bony snout sailing through the air with over 100kg behind it could easily cause life threatening injuries on your head or chest.

It’s very sad that it’s gotten away from them. Stories about invasive species never end well. If there was a chance for the native species the invasive one wouldn’t have been able to take hold in the first place. At least it’s edible I guess.
