This is the best summary I could come up with:

Finland is closing all crossings on the Russian border after accusing Moscow of deliberately helping migrants into the country.

Finland is “determined to put an end to the crossings”, Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said in a statement.

The government says Russia is channelling asylum seekers towards Finland in what it calls an “influence operation” and “hybrid attack”, and has progressively closed more and more border posts.

Only three migrants crossed into Finland through Raja-Jooseppi on Monday and zero on Tuesday, but the government said it was taking no chances with what it characterised as a threat to national security.

Finland’s non-discrimination ombudsman has raised concerns that Helsinki is jeopardising the right to seek asylum under international law - especially as the last remaining border crossing was around 900km (560 miles) north of the capital.

Pia Lindfors, executive director of the Finnish Refugee Advice Centre, told the BBC that she feared the decision would push asylum seekers to cross away from official crossing points, through the hundreds of kilometres of forests and rivers making up the long border.

The original article contains 411 words, the summary contains 177 words. Saved 57%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

Yeah sure, that’d be a better option. Maybe our oligarchs should bribe the traffickers better

Finland co-organizing migration busses with Russia could be an idea but probably not going to happen in the current state of the world.

Or Russia organizing some kind of ratios with all their neighbors to spread the load.

Meant only the state of Russia. This is Russia’s own show, will stay as such.

Nothing more collaborationist than shutting their bullshit down.

Do you feel like Russia is going to send them over the border illegally? Would’ve been quite the escalation but not unheard of.

The people getting rides to the border were technically “illegal” (propaganda term, there’s nothing wrong moving around) already as Russia was skipping the visas etc.

I’m not even that sure on how much this is geopolitical action or just corruption at play.

If whoever benefits (at least money) from transferring people towards a border out of there it might continue, even if the people might have to try around a closed border crossing.

The way that the traffickers and Russian authorities sold the idea to the migrants was that you’d get in nice and easy and that Finland was the door to the EU.

Harder to sell those trips if the border is closed, guarded and those trying to cross are yeeted back. Why pay to get here if the outlook not so good and there’s opportunities to get in closer to your starting location.

The yeeting won’t (shouldn’t and can’t) happen. Finding a guard is now a useless hassle. Or just go over somewhere and you’ll be fetched.
