There’s a lot to like about this phone, and I almost pulled the trigger on it. But once I stayed here in the news about the pixel 8 pro, especially that it would be a flat screen and that the specs in charge of keeping it cooler while still having a great battery life and performance were boosted a significant amount - to be proven once it’s released of course - I decided to hold off.
This coming from a guy who did pull a trigger on the Galaxy z fold 4 when it first premiered, and while I did enjoy that phone, I never did take advantage enough of the inner screen or the apps that work with it to really feel like I was getting the most bang for my buck. That’s not to say that the phone was not in any way great, because I absolutely loved how much I could get done without the phone running warm and just how polish the overall product felt. But, I’ve been spoiled by certain Google Assistant bonuses and of course the shutter speed/ shutter lag on the pixel series has always allowed for me to catch special moments with my family and especially my daughter. I think Samsung’s cameras have come a long way, but there were enough blurry pictures of what I thought was a clear shot, and again I wasn’t really taking advantage of the inner display that I just went back to a pixel.
Oddly enough, my boss was one of the people that pulled the trigger on the Pixel Fold, and she did get hers on time. So I’m a little excited to be back in the office on Wednesday to see how she is faring with it, especially considering that she was coming from an iPhone but made the jump because she knew about the pixel cameras, but she was all about the productivity of using that inner display in ways it was intended for.
A little more on topic: as always, it is a great review from Michael. And this almost sounds terrible but I mean it is a compliment, every single video of his is like ASMR for me because I end up passing out halfway but then come back to it later and I’m able to finish and really enjoy what he has to say each time.
