I really want Japanese King of the Hill with English subtitles

I’m immensely disappointed by Boomhauer’s voice. He’s completely understandable in the dub.

Enh, maybe it’s because I’m used to the English version, but I couldn’t imagine watching a whole episode like this.
The real problem with dubbing is that they usually have to redo all the sound effects without the director involved, including any natural sounds that would have been caught with the original dialogue. Audio is half of video, so it can change the director’s intent pretty drastically.
It sounds weird and I always go with subtitles for those reason.
Would they really need to do new foley for animation? It’d be completely separately recorded audio during production. I guess it just depends on which files the localizers have access to.
Yeah, these days they wouldn’t need to if they’re provided with the .proj or .xml or whatever they’re using for editing. King of the Hill is pretty old though and the scene change music in the video above sounds off to me so I think they did redo it all.

Normally I would say dub or nothing because I simply can’t read that fast without missing what’s onscreen. But for this show only, I’m going to say subs, if for nothing else then because closed captioning includes Boomhauer’s lines.
Also, from everything I gather, fluent English doesn’t come off to me as being a common thing in Japan. I’d love to be incorrect, but I’ve heard repeatedly that they mostly fall off again after high school, and shrink from practicing in front of actual speakers because their educational system looks down on errors so much they basically won’t even risk asking questions.
