Drivers who view bikers as 89% human or less are nearly two times more aggressive in their driving behaviors.

I had no idea there was a big backing for bike helmet mandates in the us.

I hope the ebike boom doesn’t push this idea further and fuck it up for everybody else.

Helmets are pretty functional. They do lesson impacts significantly. They have saved many lives.

      Requiring them is wrong.

We should ban the dangerous thing not require the life vest.

If my subjective statistics are correct, they really have saved an incredible amount of lifes, like about a quarter of the americans who take part in online bicycle discussions.

Sarcasm aside, i have nothing against helmets, whatever hat fits you best. But i’m really against helmet mandates where i live, i want our bicycling culture to be more like in the netherlands, not australia.

Fully agree. Pro helmet but anti mandate law.

When I lived in there Netherlands I road helmets for sport biking and didn’t for causal riding to the park etc.

Then one day I crashed in a hurry. Head to cement. Concussion, depression and headaches. After that it’s helmet almost all the time.

We should live in a world where it’s safe to ride free but recognize that accidents happen and cycling is inherently dangerous
