… Swift’s team worked around the major studios—represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, or AMPTP, in the ongoing labor negotiations—altogether when it came to producing and releasing Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. The film was self-funded, with Swift reportedly spending $10 to $20 million to produce it and her parents working directly with AMC Theaters on distribution. … Though Swift’s film may not do Barbie numbers, she is set to break even more records when it opens next month. Already, it’s on track to make up to $100 million in its first weekend—and could open as high as $145 million, according to BoxOffice.com. That’s unprecedented for a concert film, and would put it in the top five theatrical openings this year.

So basically she met all of their demands for a self-funded film which will likely get a profit within a weekend. Seems like the demands aren’t real profit killers like movie studios are saying. Who would have guessed.

Way go go Taylor. Really showing how being a good person can work while still making money

Her major bounce back after Ye mocked her at the VMA just really gave me appreciation of her “IMMA DO ME SO GET THE FUCK OUTTA MY WAY” personality that has inspired many.

The way Swift stands up to the status quo and shapes it? I love it and support it.

She isn’t a perfect role model, but then again, who is?

She also spent $50 million on giving bonuses to the crew on her eras tour. She values labor.

Perfect is the enemy of good.

Let’s appreciate good choices, instead of criticizing people for not being better.

The good choice is her making a shitload of money, not really hard life decisions we are talking about here. This just suits her wallet and her brand, she isn’t a saint. Should I clap whenever she recycles?

She’s making money while also supporting the right cause (strikers).

We shouldn’t be against people making money. We should be against exploitation.

How so? I strongly believe most people who loudly decry the habits of the rich would behave the exact same way if they were born into another family.

I’ll go further: I believe most folks who strongly hold these positions would behave as the rich do now, even if they came into money as adults, after forming these opinions.

Most people are hypocrites that haven’t had the chance to go back on their positions yet/ever.

You’re probably not wrong. Which is sort of the point. There need to be rules/laws in place to stop human nature from making life horrible for regular people so a few assholes can exploit them.

                Ok future jet traveler!

I’m sure your live as an ascetic, not impacting climate with whatever luxuries you currently afford. I’m sure if you got a better job there would be NOTHING you start doing that you hadn’t before. A vacation, nicer food, some new clothes, run the air conditioning more, nope! Not for you!

My opinion is backed by data, as societies gain more expendable income they tend to eat more meat, and take more trips further away from home. This is not a unique American thing, this happens everywhere. Using a private jet is just the end of the road of that behavior

Terrible paywall on this article for me.

She is a union member which is why it matters, I don’t know that every concert film would need one. Other than filming the agreement also allows her to promote it despite the strike.

It is on the list of waivers under an assumed name. I like to think it’s the one titled “A Very Stinky Summer” because I can only imagine.

A24 also has waivers for a few productions, so continue to support A24.

Wow. I’m not a fan by any means, but this is an incredibly respectable move - an example for the industry to follow. Holy Freakin Moley!

I’m still not listening to her music, but now I know I am ignoring the music of a very decent human being.

“She came to us and said she wanted to do this, but only if she could do it the right way under a union contract,” Crabtree-Ireland said during a talk at a Toronto Independent Film Festival last week. “And we said, that’s great. And so she fulfilled all the same criteria as anybody else and has an interim agreement for that production.”

so whatever you think of her, the Writer’s Strike is obviously down to one problem: assholes
