Do you want ortholinear or do you want to stick with staggered keys like the Microsoft Ergo Keyboard?
If you want to stick with traditional stagger but split, then Keeb.io has some options:
- Sinc for 75% split
- Quefrency for 60%/65% split
If you just want a Alice style keyboard with a number that is similar to your current keyboard, then Feker Alice 98 might be a better choice. Ergo keyboards rarely (if ever) come with numpads.
Just wanted to chime in with a positive review of the Alice 98. My wife didn’t want to go through effort of relearning to type on an Ortho keyboard and, as a finance professional, she’s tied to her numpad. The Alice 98 has been a great step into the mech keyboard world for her. Finding keycaps can be tricky but there are still a good range of options. All in all, would recommend, for someone hoping to duplicate the layout of a Microsoft 4000 but with much nicer feel and sound.
Sorry, first ever post to kbin. I’d like to replace my Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. I’ve used this keyboard for like 15 years, buying a new one every few years or so.
Can anyone recommend something to start with? I am so overwhelmed by ergo-mechs. My reason is my hands hurt, and it seems like y’all have found a better keyboard. Thank you so much, apologies again, this is my first post so obvs I don’t know what I’m doing.
