Looks like I’m going to get this job. I put in for the sorts of roles I want and never get anywhere, then recruiters contact me for roles like this and I just smash the interviews.

This one just might work out. Maybe it will be the good job in the area I’ve been trying to get away from

So happy for and proud of you. You’re such a resourceful and smart young person, I’m so glad you’ll be out of the incompetent claws of DFFH very soon and you can begin to heal and shine in your own space and place. I look forward to hearing about your new realisations and experiences. One sage bit of advice I had from my psychologist when I was moving was: it’s entirely valid not to unpack all at once. Take your time, pace yourself. You have permission to settle in on your own schedule.

I’ve already used $10 of electricity since the plan was connected 6 days ago 😔

Well, to be fair only like $1 of that is actual usage. Unfortunately I don’t have a choice but pay their $1.50 per day “connection charge” until I can change providers in March. Probably gonna be the second thing I do after turning 18

When I switched accounts from shutjustworks to Aussie zone, someone suggested I was a faku (FakeBaku). Now I kinda feel like a fake adult - all the responsibilities, none of the perks

Btw if anybody wants a rant about the unfairness of being able to pay taxes but unable to vote, you can hit me up any time

Throw some tea bags into the harbour - you just might start a revolution. On second thoughts, that didn’t end well (as of last election).

Thanks cakesy, much appreciated! I can tell you that I do not have the energy to unpack at this point in time. I did move a desk into my bedroom and setup my computer, but that’s as far as it’s going. I feel like I live in an Amazon warehouse with all these boxes!

    I. Am. Done.

With work for the year. Out of office on, notifications off. Yeeeahhh. Now to clean up and get packed for a wee getaway.

I am thinking of deleting all social apps for a few weeks. I suspect I will keep jerboa but going to try to have less screen time for a bit. If I don’t catch has then have a good one 🍻🍻🍻

Doing some late night work as I caught up with a friend this morning which railroaded my day. Ughh people coming out of the woodwork with new jobs for me to do the week before Christmas. All of which can wait until the new year. I said to myself this week I will only be finishing up projects on the go, and I intend to stick to that.

    Geelong trip was interesting.

I am not going to make such a trip to see the husband’s cousins again. I invited them to the gallery and the cafe there, my treat. It’s a small place in lovely environs.

The train was cool , fast and efficient.

I meet up and they said there is no parking anyway so let’s go to el cheapo shopping mall instead. Even with a denim jacket on I felt over dressed and out of place.

I gave the lovely b’day gift , which was the reason behind the visit. She loved it all.

We had sandwiches at the mall , they paid for themselves, they complained about the price even tho it was super cheap.

After some shopping they took me back to the train station. 🫥

I walked to gallery and gardens, which were beautiful.

you’ve seen one tacky westfield you’ve seen them all

i’m not a snob, i don’t mind shops, but not as a social meeting I travel to. Shops to me are utilitarian.

            I know.

I forgot to add that once I got to the art district I could see there was open parking everywhere.🤨

( I am quietly seething at being treated so poorly )

not so much disdain but feeling annoyed they thought they could tell me such a stupid lie , their opinion of me must be very low

and yes, the gallery and park was very beautiful 🙂

Those lions, there are a pair, are pretty big and grand and like the lions you see at many of the famous libraries and galleries around the world.

The painting really interested me, it’s from the mid 1850s, of a meeting between two men going to the gold fields and a small clan of Aborigines. The Aborigines are wearing possum cloaks with painted markings. They are carrying bags with all their tools and weapons.

The soil is so red, which is just like it is around Geelong, not much grass and the trees are sparse. There are black boy grass trees, which used to be common in western Vic. You can see the Youyangs in the background.

The sculpture is of Ruth, a biblical character.

So freaking grateful I have a day off tomorrow. I’m cooked, I don’t think I’ll do much at uni, but I will catch up on organising token gifts and life admin nonsense. Working out what to take for Xmas lunch next Wednesday that I can carry on the train to the 'Rat (I’ve decided I’m not driving - save energy and petrol $). It’ll be a mostly Sri Lankan style thing, I could do a simple curry or two but I’m conscious of not having the whole v/line carriage smell of it.

The director told me today she’s resigning, and that there’s a wave of resignations coming from everyone else.

It was so good until the new owners took over.

Been talking to the people who have been here for ages. They’re absolutely shattered. It was apparently amazing before.

    Bad timing I guess.

Finally signed up for flybuys. If I’m spending the money on groceries anyway I might as well get a free kitchen knife or Bunnings gift card for it… Still feels kind of wrong. Even though I already have a Woolies rewards card and probably gave up all privacy long ago.

At least I’m probably confusing their algorithm by buying baby food and bibs for the cat.

    spoiler

(The pumpkin baby food helps her tummy and encourages her to eat. The bibs are to keep spilled medicine out of her fur.)
