We spend so much effort teaching children honesty, respect, to share and to empathise. Then we spend the rest of their childhood beating all that back out of them while telling anyone who wants to cling to those ideals to grow up.

My wife and I both experienced an age where suddenly we were told to forget about those dreams and be realistic. It was very strange. We both remarked later on how odd it was that we were encouraged to dream one year and then told to bend over and take it the next.

My parents raised me to always learn, always ask how and why, and to treat people with respect.

Then when I became an adult they started mocking me for being educated and sticking to my morals.

      Which is it???
