That’s right – we’re hosting our first-ever Summer Music Fest Jam! Think of it as a VRChat beach episode, but with more bangers. This Jam will have a few parts. We’ll go into more detail below, but here’s the general idea:

A World & Avatar Jam!

A bunch of events (hosted by you!) utilizing the new worlds

Promotion (from us!) for as many of the events using said worlds as possible.

In addition, there’s a chance we might throw our own event on your map!

So, with that out of the way, what are the details?

First: let’s talk about some important dates.

Jam submissions open July 8, and will remain open until August 2. The submissions will be judged, and the winners will be featured starting August 12 until September 6. During this period, we’ll be looking for events to promote that utilize the maps in question.

What sort of worlds are we looking for?

In short, we are looking for mobile-friendly worlds that have a beach or summer theme. They must support a music player/video streams and (given the mobile-friendly component) be cross-platform compatible.

Worlds will be judged based on a few categories:

Summer Vibe-iness

Media Player Integration

Performance Level

Ease of Use

Some extra, important world requirements:

When submitting the world, you must accurately describe any third-party assets that you used.

You may link storefronts such as Booth, Gumroad, etc in the world description and image. However, these storefronts must be ‘SFW’ and cannot contain any 18+ content.

The world submitted should be an original world.

If the world submitted is derived from some other content, the original license must permit modification, redistribution, and use in a commercial application. You must provide a link to the original content, including its license.

What sort of avatars are we looking for?

As is the case with worlds, we’re looking for avatars that emphasize, “summer vibes at the beach,” whatever that happens to mean to you. Your avatar has to be ranked Medium or better, should include AudioLink reactivity on PC, and be cross-platform compatible.

It will be judged on the following categories:

Summer Vibe-iness

AudioLink Integration

Performance Rank

Extra Features

Some extra, important avatar requirements:

The submitted avatar should be around 152cm (~5’0") to 180cm (~6’0").

The avatar must have both a PC and Quest version.

The avatar must be built with Avatars SDK 3.0.

The avatar must abide by the Terms of Service.

What else should creators know?

We strongly suggest checking out our list of Jam Resources here on the forums. Likewise, as is always, all Jam entries should be submitted through our Jam portal, found here!

Are there any prizes?

Yes!

We’ll choose 10 world and 10 avatar winners, who will receive VRC+ free for a year and a public avatar row feature.

What about event runners?

If you run an event using any of the winning Summer Jam worlds, we’ll do our best to promote it for you! While we can’t guarantee that we’ll promote every event, we’re going to be doing our best to highlight as many as we can.

We’ll be highlighting events in numerous ways, likely through both social and through an in-game article highlighting a schedule of events as they’re going on.

…hey, what about that last part – are you going to host an event on my map?

That part is under wraps for now. Stay tuned!

Barbeque’s waiting – get out there and start cookin’!

Once again, Jam entries are open from July 8, and will remain open until August 2! That’s for both worlds and avatars. As usual with Jams, you can submit your entries here.
