My wife and I made it 4-1/2 years without ever getting COVID. I just tested positive 2 days ago. My wife is also sick and will probably pop positive soon.
The worst part is that I caught it from an old friend, who came back to town for the week, invited me over, and only told me after spending the day with his family that his little kid is positive for COVID and has been passing it around his family. This particular friend never took the pandemic seriously, deciding that the death rate was so low, and serious life-altering side effects of COVID were so rare, that it wasn’t a big deal. His family has apparently had COVID several times over now.
Fuck this pandemic, and everyone involved in prolonging it.
I was supposed to meet up with a family member the other day but they tested positive for COVID the previous evening so they cancelled. Next day they took an international flight to go on holiday. I don’t know all the details but I found that decision shocking. Many people are casually selfish enough that they just help this virus keep circulating.
Yikes
Sounds like a good reason to lose that friend.
I’ve had eight vaccines and still mask to this day. I take it super seriously. The government is fully responsible IMO for making it seem like it went away when it absolutely hasn’t. I’m sorry you guys got sick. I hope it is mild for you both. My case was very mild and just amounted to a stuffy nose and loss of sense of smell and taste so I got very lucky, but I caught it when I fanatically wore an N95 everywhere I went.
I was living with my elderly father (who also never got COVID), so we were getting regular vaccinations because he was high risk. But he passed away recently, and I was told I’m no longer in a high risk situation, so I’ll get my vaccination every other year, with my age group. So I haven’t been vaccinated in a while, which is probably why I was at risk for this particular strain.
Fortunately, it’s been very mild for me. The only concern was a slight pressure in my chest, like someone was sitting on me. And I spent a day feeling so full-body tired that I could barely move. But all of that passed after a day and now I’m just dealing with regular cold symptoms (runny nose, sinus pressure, cough). No loss of taste or smell so far. My wife just started her symptoms yesterday and they’ve been pretty much identical to mine so far.
The worst part is that my wife and I were both naturally social distancing already. We don’t work (I’m retired young, she was medically separated from the military, and we’re both receiving VA disability), so we’re basically living like hermits out in the countryside, far away from other people. The one time I allow myself to to have fun with a friend who came back to town, it turns out he brought the plague with him.
I don’t think every other year vaccines are enough. I go every six months. I would go more often than that.
Scary part about vaccinations for me, well there’s two scary parts; they knock me out for a day. I get fever and everything. Then there’s also the fact that you have to go out to a clinic to get it, at least where I live. I’ve some social phobias, and the fact that you’re heading to a clinic among people where anyone could be a carrier also doesn’t help.
Friend would be getting a severe ass kicking.
I know two people who ended up disabled from Covid, and it screwed my heart. I hope you and your wife won’t suffer any long term effects.
I checked the other day and without insurance, a moderna covid booster costs three hundred dollars.
American healthcare never ceases to amaze
I just go to my pharmacy in Canada and get it. Americans are crazy.
Lol for now…
Meanwhile in Brazil I just need to walk in to my local public health hospital and ask for the vaccine and get it right there for free
Holy shit. I knew it was bad, but that doesn’t even compute. I know any price is infinitely more than free, but that is way higher than I could have ever expected. Like, the cost of the shots to the government was pretty low(20-30$), who would have thought it was mostly bulk discount, lol.
It’s bullshit.
You’re either trying to push misinformation or just hilariously uninformed. No adult has to pay for a covid vaccination if you do even the slightest bit of research.
I’m happy to share the clinics in Southern California I called so you can ask them yourself. I was told boosters are not free if you’re out of network, as I have insurance but they do not accept it.
Also, looks like the free initial vaccine program ends in 9 days, so your rude assertion is moot in a week and a half either way.
Man, I bet you thought you ackshaually’d me really good there didn’t you?
Sounds a bit like insider trading

Donald Trump said “if we don’t test for it, it will disappear.”
Joe Biden didn’t say anything about it, he just followed Trump’s lead and… just stopped testing.
It must hurt to be this stupid.
I see them saying stupid shit all the time and getting a lot of upvotes for it typically
