And they still managed to f*ck it up. The new D3 season looks more exciting than anything that is currently in D4
Some of the choices made in d4 have been beyond confusing. However, d4 still isn’t as much a mess as d3 was when it was released so I still have hope some of those refinements will be implemented. We’ll see though…
Recently at work I asked the software team I lead to revive an old feature we decommissioned some time ago. There’s a new need for it, a new team that wants to work on it in fact, and my hope was that we could just hand it off to them.
My team said sure, but let us clean up and reorganize a few things in the code that will make it easier for someone else to understand it and take it over.
I had a two week vacation and when I returned, this had become “we need to totally rewrite it before it can be handed off. It’s in really bad shape.”
I was annoyed but I said whatever, okay.
Then, at the handoff meeting, they revealed that the feature had about half the functions it did before. Big parts were missing from the new rewrite and some fundamental things like logging stats on how people use the feature were left out. All shit that worked before.
So looking at D4 versus D3, all I can say is: but that code is super fucking clean I bet!!!
I think you’d lose that bet
So what’s included in new Diablo 3 season?
New pocket dimensions, that are literally mini-rifts. New champion mods. Some class balance (mostly buffs to items) and Solo Self Found mode.
I was going to be really sad about this, but I just realized I have diablo III so I can play it.
I just wish I could be a werewolf or do the twisting blades stuff with modern graphics
At one point i’m really sceptical…
-D4 1.1.1 Build #43794 (All Platforms) - August 8, 2023 “The following Nightmare Dungeon affixes have been removed: Resource Burn”
also D3: New Monster Affixes: Resource Leech: Hitting a player removes 65% of their maximum resource.
Try D2! Even better!
