Guys, just one more invasion and we’ll save those poor backwards people from themselves. They just need like 1,092 3,765 10,462 31,211 more drone strikes.

Justice would be if an army of women obliterated these asshats.

Military interventions can work for the better. But not if the goal is to exploit the country of course.

It might have worked if Dubya hadn’t screwed up so badly. Then the Iraq invasion destroyed all chances of success.

“Human rights advocates across the world note that religious justification, especially one that has no legitimate basis in Quran, does not excuse the brutal treatment of women and human rights violations.”

Unfortunately the Quran includes plenty of justification for the abuse of women. In at least one surah its outright ordered by god. One of the main problems the quran faces as a religious text is that it is meant to be the literal words of god and cannot be re-interpreted as a human opinion or mistranslation. Some very bad things are stated as direct moral imperatives given by the creator of the universe.

One of the reasons Islam is an especially fucked up religion which is inherently incompatible with modern human culture.

Let’s not forget all the shit the US was getting for withholding the Afghan government’s money when it collapsed and refusing to give it to the Taliban and the Afghan people, and the sanctions. Even after a military invasion and an attempt to bring democracy didn’t work, and sanctions and withholding their prior government’s money didn’t either. Not only did all of that not work, they were directly detrimental to the people that the US was trying to ‘help’.

What do you expect the world to do now? Another long ground war? Sanctions that’ll starve the Afghan people?
