What would it take for a new player to enter the market? I realize there are a lot of obstacles, but sounds like having options is a national security issue.
I am by no means an expert, but I suppose that this would be tremendously hard for a company/organization without decades of experience, know-how and insanely expensive infrastructure.
It would have to be a company already in a adjacent industry.
