Today’s weather forecast (Melbourne CBD, 3000): min - 13°C, max - 22°C. 90% chance of no rain

We’re back to the DDT now. Feels good to be home, right?

I’d like to acknowledge and thank @[email protected] for their daily blessings of food, heat, thermo-nuclear radiation, and everything in between. Thanks bacon! 🏆

I had some good daytime and even walked a bit but then crashed and woke in the night…

Time to get some more activity in the Food Australia instance. Vicariously posting all the stuff that looks good to me and is fairly cheap/doable. I’m thinking of a pasta salad you make ahead in the cool of the evening/night and refrigerate for the next day.

Melbcat is still sooky and a bit off. She’s really lethargic and either sleeping or cuddling with me like a teddy bear. Multiple panicked calls have been made to the vets over the past few days. But she’s still eating and drinking with no breathing problems so I’ll just keep an eye on her.

I forgot to say I think I’ve gained the trust of the magpies. I’ve backed off on feeding them due to potential dependence or overweight but when I came outside one was just hanging out a meter from me and seeing what I was up to. I had to awkwardly shuffle around it to be on my way without scaring it off. Sometimes a different one will sit on the fence and watch me spritz the plants.

Yeah, maggies can become very friendly even if you don’t feed them often. Although I’m in general against feeding wildlife, I do make exceptions for things that need a bit of coaxing to form a basic rapport with and stop yourself from getting attacked

I’ve been trying to kick up a bit of activity around here, too, it’ll be nice to have a posting partner! A little bit of a recommendation, if you’re open to it: people sometimes get annoyed if you post too much in one community too quickly (even if they don’t outwardly say it). I try to keep to 1 post a day per community I post in, to avoid overwhelming anyone (we are only little after all, your posts will almost certainly all show up on everybody’s feed)

I’m sure melbcat will be alright. In fact, you too. You’re doing well. Stay strong, and don’t hesitate to call that vet if you need peace of mind or clarity on something!

Yeah lol it began as protection money.

Ok ok, cheers for the tip. I figured more Lemmy activity would be welcome as long as it was an ok quality post, but I can see how one person could overwhelm a small less active instance.

She should be ok, she’s a tough girl and if anything happens I am still able to get her to emergency by myself using the pram.
